Applying - Master's or Certification Program

Application Submission Methods

  • Complete and submit our online application electronically. Application fee is waived for online applications. The confirmation receipt must be sent to the Admissions Office.
  • Students applying to the Physician Assistant - Professional Phase program must submit applications through the Central Application Service for Physician Assistants (CASPA).
  • Download, print, and complete the application.  Send it by mail to the Office of University Admissions (with application fee).
  • Use our online Request Information form to receive a printed form by mail.
  • Contact our office directly to request application materials.

Application Directions

  • Submit OFFICIAL, SEALED transcripts of all your academic work. 
  • Send two letters of reference from persons familiar with your educational background.  If you have not attended college for three or more years, please contact the Admissions Office for guidance. Download and print two blank copies of the reference form or obtain printed forms from us. Letters should be sent to Marywood University's Office of Graduate Admissions with an official signature across the sealed flap of the envelope. These forms cannot be submitted electronically.
  • Note to all applicants: Please provide your former/maiden name if you have one. When requesting transcripts, please ask the sending institution to indicate your current name and former/maiden name.
  • All documents submitted in connection with the application become the property of the University.
  • Payment of $35. Your application will not be processed until this fee is received. Make your check payable to Marywood University. Note: Application fee is waived if your application is submitted online.
  • Your complete application should be submitted at least one month before the semester of desired beginning enrollment, unless you are applying to a program with a specific deadline.
  • Some programs of study have specific application deadlines.

Additional Application Directions for International Students

  • For international students, the application and acceptance process requires a lot of work on the student’s behalf. It is important to begin this process early and be aware of all of the steps that must be taken in order to gain acceptance. See the International Guidelines for thorough details.
  • International Students must also complete the Supplemental Questionnaire and submit the completed form with the application for admission.
  • International students must submit a TOEFL or IELTS score taken within the last two years.  Minimum TOEFL score is 79 (internet-based), 213 (computer-based), or 550 (paper-based); minimum IELTS score is 6.  
  • International students have specific application deadlines for admission.
  • If you are transferring your VISA from another United States institution of higher learning, you must complete this form.

Other Requirements

  • Praxis I – required for all Instructional I Certifications
  • Resume – required for Biotechnology, Communication Arts, Education Specialist School Psychology, Interior Architecture/Design (optional), Principal K-12 Certification, Pupil Personnel Services Supervisor Certification, School Psychology Certification, Social Work, and Superintendent/Assistant Superintendent Letter of Eligibility
  • Essay - required for Art Therapy, Biotechnology, Communication Arts, Criminal Justice, Ed.S. School Psychology, Psychology/Counseling, Public Administration/Health Services Administration, Social Work, and Speech-Language Pathology - See Specific Essay Requirements
  • Portfolio – required for applicants for Art Education Certification K-12, Art Therapy, and Interior Architecture/Design
