Masters or Certification Programs

Submit the application form using any one of the following methods:

  • Complete and submit our online application electronically. This form will not be processed until the application fee and confirmation receipt are received by the Admissions Office.
  • Complete the online application, then print it out and send it to us (with fee) by mail.
  • Use our online Request Information form to receive a printed form among the materials sent to you by mail.
  • Contact our office directly to request application materials.

Directions

  • Submit OFFICIAL, SEALED transcripts of all your academic work.
  • Send two letters of reference from persons familiar with your background and work. Print two blank copies of our online reference form (PDF) / Social Work online reference form or obtain printed forms from us. Have them completed, signed and returned to us. These forms cannot be submitted electronically.
  • International students must submit a TOEFL score ( if degree was not completed in English).
  • Payment of $35. Your application will not be processed until this fee is received. Make your check payable to Marywood University. Send it to the address listed below.
  • Your complete application should be submitted at least one month before the semester of desired beginning enrollment.

Program Specific Requirements

  • Portfolio – required for applicants to the Art Department, including Art Education Certification K-12 and Art Therapy
  • Test scores – required for Speech Language Pathology (GRE General); Psychology/Counseling(GRE General or Miller’s); Business/Managerial Science (GMAT)
  • Praxis I – required for all Instructional I Certifications
  • Resume – required for School Psychology Certification, Education Specialist School Psychology, and Social Work * TOEFL - required for international applicants

Graduate Admissions Essay
Required for students applying into the following Graduate programs:

  • Art Therapy
  • Criminal Justice
  • Ed. S. School Psychology
  • Nursing Administration
  • Public Administration/Health Services Administration
  • Social Work
  • Speech Language Pathology

Art Therapy Applicants are required to submit an essay of 350-words minimum addressing the three points outlined below:

1. Describe your personal involvement in art
2. Describe your understanding of art therapy
3. Why have you chosen to pursue art therapy graduate education?

Criminal Justice Applicants are required to submit an essay discussing their career objectives and the way in which the CJ Masters program will contribute to these objectives (350-words minimum).

Ed. S. School Psychology Applicants are required to submit a personal statement citing reasons for entering the profession of school psychology and giving an estimate of potential for success in the field; included should be a resume of the applicant’s professional experience.

Nursing Administration Applicants are required to submit an essay (250- words minimum) describing your career goals and how these goals relate to the objective of the graduate Nursing Administration program.

Public Administration/Health Services Administration - The M.P.A. Program Admissions committee gives preference to individuals with two or more years of professional work experience and who can clearly articulate Public Service career objective. Consequently, an admission essay of 350- word minimum is required addressing the four points outlined below:

1. Describe your professional work background.
2. What attracted you to a M.P.A. / M.H.S.A.?
3. What do you expect to receive in management training?
4. How do you expect to use the management training and the M.P.A. / M.H.S.A. degree as a credential in pursuing your career objectives?

Social Work Applicants are required to submit an informal statement of about 800 words (3 pages). This statement should include information about the following: the development of your interest in social work, including educational work and personal experiences as relevant; your strengths in relation to social work practice; gaps or limitations in your experience or attributes that would need attention in preparing for social work practice; your preference for your future in social work.

Speech-Language Pathology Applicants must submit an admissions essay (250 words minimum) addressing the four points below:

1. Discuss your professional career goals and aspirations.
2. Discuss your area(s) of clinical interest.
3. What strengths do you feel you bring as a student to a graduate program in Speech-Language Pathology?
4. What do you hope to gain from graduate study in Speech-Language Pathology at Marywood University?

Doctoral Program in Human Development

DEADLINE: January 30th, 2008 (Coursework begins in Fall 2008)

 

This is a self-managed application. It is the applicant's reponsibility to gather all supporting credentials and materials and to submit them in the same envelope as the application. In this way, each applicant will be certain that the application, fee, transcripts, references, and essay are submitted and that the application is complete. Test scores (GRE/TOEFL) should come directly from ETS.

  • International students must submit a TOEFL score (if degree was not completed in English).
  • Payment of $35. Your application will not be processed until this fee is received. Make your check payable to Marywood University. Send it to the address listed below.

Doctoral Program in Clinical Psychology

DEADLINE: January 15th, 2008 (Coursework to begin in Fall 2008)

 

This is a self-managed application. It is the applicant's responsibility to gather all supporting credentials and materials and to submit them in the same envelope as the application. In this way, each applicant will be certain that the application, fee, transcripts, references, and essay are submitted and that the application is complete. Test scores (GRE/TOEFL) should come directly from ETS.

  • An ESSAY on the goals you hope to meet through participation in this Psy.D. program. (Not to exceed 1000 words.)
  • Send three reference forms (at least two from psychologists). Print three blank copies of our online reference form or obtain printed forms from us. Have them completed, signed and returned to us. These forms cannot be submitted electronically.
  • Scores from the Graduate Record Exam (GRE) General Test and Psychology Subject Test taken within the past five years. Please request that your scores be sent directly from the Educational Testing Service to Marywood. Our ETS school code is 2407.
  • International students must submit a TOEFL score (if degree was not completed in English).
